In this sequel to the author's previous book, Unholy Hunger, we revisit the main character, Evelyn, in her new life after helping solve her daughter's murder.  Evelyn is pregnant and has been working with jury selection when asked to join her old "partner", the cop she worked with when she realized she had the ability to seek out and find, even smell, the "evil" of a man who tried to control others with his perversion.

While hoping for a second chance at happiness with her new baby, Evelyn agonizes over a case that becomes personal when someone very dear to her is attacked.  Although things are different than before, Evelyn encounters the evil she met previously.  A series of rapes, murders, familiar names and situations kept this reader on the edge of her seat.  Once again the author brings you to a scary and evil place.  I enjoy Heather's writing even if it goes to "scary" places because she always reminds her readers that there is a power stronger than the evil.  The ending went somewhere I had not expected, and that is, to me the sign of a great writer.  I'll definitely be watching for more of Heather's books.
