This is a series of books written by Nicole O'Dell, a mom of six, founder of Choose NOW Ministries, and host of Teen Talk Radio and Parent Talk Radio.  Hot Buttons Bullying Edition is for kids afraid to go to school.  Hot Buttons Image Edition is for young people wishing they were someone else and their parents.

Other books in the series include Internet Edition, Dating Edition, Drug Edition, and Sexuality Edition.

Here's a bit of what you'll find in each of the books:

Bullying Edition

The following are discussed in terms of identifying the hot buttons in relation to the victim, cliques and groups, cyberbullying, self-harm and bullycide, and the bully.  Nicole discusses protective procedures, the Armor of God, and strategic scenarios.  A Parent-Teen Study Guide is included at the end of the book which covers confession, forgiveness, and a clean slate.  There are even other recommended resources and notes.
  • Teasing
  • Cliques
  • Cyberbullying
  • Suicide
Image Edition

This book is laid out much the same, but it discusses the following topics.
  • Popularity
  • Self-Esteem
  • Piercings and Tattoos
  • Eating Disorders
  • Celebrity Influence
I liked these books.  They are quick to read and have great ideas and suggestions to use with your kids.  While discussing the different topics Nancy provides ideas, scripture, checkpoints and strategic scenarios.  Nancy's Strategic Scenarios are great for thinking through situations and encouraging communication about how best to handle things that might come up while a parent is not around.  These books encourage parents to be involved in their child's life while helping children figure out how to deal with the common pressures of growing up and being part of an ever-changing society which is not always nice or encouraging.  Both books finish with Teen Commitments and Parent Commitments sections and prayers for parents and teens.  There is a lot of good information in these books.  I look forward to reading some of the others in the series.
