As a member of the Mosaic Reviews team I recently received a 

copy of the new Apologia book, How Do We Know God is 

Really There?  Here's is a peek at what we found and our
ideas about the story.

The book tells the story of a man and his son. The pair go to a 

tree house at the end of each day for some bonding and catch-
up time.  One night when Thomas and his father are up in their 
tree house looking through a telescope at the rings of Saturn 
their conversation turns to something much deeper.  Thomas 
asks his father, "How do we know God is really there?"

  

His dad explains why God has to be there and how the 

things in space show proof of his creation of everything.  

He reminds his son, "As Psalm 19:1 tells us, the heavens 

declare the glory of god and the skies proclaim the 

work of His hands."  The story combines a common 
science topic with a not so simple religious topic and 
provides a very believable and understandable explanation 
of the relationship between the two.

The hard cover book contains sturdy pages and simple and 
colorful pictures.  The book is geared to elementary ages, 
but I think it would be enjoyable at any age due to the content. 
I read this one with my boy, but it would be a great book for 
fathers and sons to read at the end of the day.    

We enjoyed this book.  My son is very interested in "his Earth", 
space and the planets.  He enjoyed the pictures and ideas about 
how everything was created in space.  We talked about 
telescopes, planets, building a tree house, spending time with 
daddy and, of course, God.  I really loved the way that science 
and religion came into the same discussion in the story.  It can
be a difficult concept to try to share with kids, but this story 
makes it all seem quite simple and logical.  I have a feeling that 
astronomy will be a favorite here for a long time, and that will 
probably provide plenty of reasons to discuss this book 
further.  Apologia has always been a favorite at our house due 
to the excellent content and presentation we've experienced.  I'll 
be watching for similar books in the future.  Overall this book
was a hit at our house.
