I recently received a nice Bible for young children from Kregel Publications to review.  It's really quite a good one if you have a child around three to five years of age.  Let me tell you a bit about it.

The God Helps Me Bible is a colorfully illustrated Bible for very young children.  It has a protected spiral binding that allows the book to lay flat and is easy carrying size for little hands. The pages are heavy enough that even my wild child can't tear them.  In addition, Clare Caddy has filled the stories with child-friendly illustrations with just the right details to capture any child's attention. (The illustrations are similar to the cover pictured above.)
The God Helps Me Bible presents a retelling of twenty-five Bible stories using simple words and concepts.  The stories contained include favorites such as:
Noah and His Great Ark, Joseph Explains a Dream, Moses Rescues His People, David Defeats a Giant, Daniel is Saved from Lions, The Very Hungry Crowd and a Tiny Man Meets Jesus.  At the end of each story the author points out how God helped the main character.  There is a also a Bible reference at the end of each story for parents to refer to in their own Bible for "the rest of the story".  In these stories your child will see that God loves and helps his world and people.

This is a great read-aloud for little kids.  I like the ability to open the book flat to point to details in the pictures while reading.  There is just enough story for the children to understand but not so much that they are overwhelmed and forget the details.  Although we did not use it as such, I think this could easily be used to introduce a "devotion/study" time to your children.  The Bible reference could be read and studied by the parent before reading to your child.  We enjoyed this book and will probably put this one in our bag to take to church.

I received this book free from Kregel to provide this review.  I did not and will not receive further compensation.  Thoughts and comments are my own.  I am not obligated to provide a positive review, but I did enjoy this book.
