Just when I really needed the encouragement I received Wounded Women of the Bible from Kregel for this review. Let me tell you a bit about the book. Wounded Women of the Bible is written by Dena Dyer and Tina Samples, two women with very different backgrounds but both "wounded" during their life. Dena and Tina share about their backgrounds, some of the various wounds they've suffered (abuse, betrayal, etc.) and what they've learned about the character of God and the healing and growth that comes from trials and being wounded. They share stories about their lives, the lives of other women they've known, and the "wounded" women of the Bible. The Biblical women that they share about include Abigail, Dinah, Ruth, Hagar, Jochebed, Mary and Martha, and several others. While they share the Biblical stories and scripture they show how to apply the stories to real life situations and hurts. I love the honesty and real life stories that the authors have shared. This book is incredibly encouraging, and I'll definitely suggest this to my friends who are having a tough life and hurtful circumstances. I wasn't sure I really was interested in reading this book, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was exactly what I needed! If you or a friend are dealing with abuse, betrayal or other "wounds", this is definitely a book to seek out.
