Etched...Upon My Heart - Review and Giveaway!!

Ok, so this is late, I wanted it posted for January 22nd, but life gets in the way sometimes.

I recently received a copy of the book Etched...Upon My Heart--What We Learn and Why We Never Forget It, written by bestselling author Jill Kelly. This book will touch  your heart down deep.   Let me tell you a little about it.

Jill shares her personal experiences as a mother "trying to make every moment count".  She addresses love, significance, forgiveness, suffering, giving, prayer, faithfulness and death.  Early in the book Jill shares why finding out her son had a fatal genetic disease led her to say "Our loss was our greatest gain."  I love the way she describes letting go of hopes and dreams and instead embracing God's "greater vision and glory".  Jill is very honest and shares stories of the things she went through while God allowed her to "search for value and meaning by wandering through a moral wasteland of worldly pleasures".

"How many times I pretended that life was good when deep within I was empty and aching!" are Jill's words as she touches on how so many live their lives today.  You'll want to read this book to find out why Jill says that "Our failures will eventually lead us into God's faithfulness."  Her honest stories from her "real" life made me pause and think about where I've been and where I'm headed in my life.  We all make choices and hopefully learn from them along the way.  It's good to be reminded that God's faithfulness and plans are more reliable than our own.
