Hey, I recently received a copy of Life on the Family Farm from Life Sentence Publishing in the hope that I would provide a review. Here it is!
This book, written by Tom Heck, is a great book for those of us who read in short spurts. The book is a compilation of personal stories to "bless, encourage and build character." Tom shared the stories with his children and eventually started writing for newspapers. The stories included cover a four year period of Tom's life adventures on his dairy farm in northern Wisconsin. There are seventy-six short stories within this 252 page book. Readers will find out all about Dinosaur Eggs, Streaked Gophers, the Fireball Miracle, Old White Tail, Kangleberry Pie, the Two-Dollar Wheelbarrow and more in quick to read chunks. They'll also find out about Tom's faith and its effect on his life.
I enjoyed the stories. I love that I can read a few, put the book down, and come back to reading without feeling like I have to reread to stay within a story. Tom has a comfortable style of writing that I enjoy. As a native of northern Minnesota I have experienced similar stories and situations throughout my life. I feel like I know Tom like a neighbor after reading about his adventures.
