I recently received a copy of Rainbows for Rainy Days from Kregel Publications to read and review. This is a very inspiring book of 40 short devotions about God's love when things are hard. The author, a nurse who lost 2 daughters who had genetic conditions that required a lot of care, is also an inspirational speaker. I love that these devotions share that God is Lord even when things are bad, sometimes very bad. I have been encouraged by the stories and thought shared by Catherine.
The devotions are short and contain a scripture verse and pictures. They are just the right length to be helpful but not so long as to be overwhelming when you're down. Catherine shares a lot of insight too.
Like Catherine, I too believe that "those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength." (Isaiah 40:31) Obviously we all have tough times, concerns and worries, but reading and thinking about relevant scripture verses and hearing about a similar or worse situation that someone else has gone through or is facing often makes our issues seem much smaller and bearable.
Thank you Catherine for sharing strength, encouragement and some wonderful scripture I can refer to during those hard times. This book was very inspiring and definitely one I'll read again.
