Do you have a child that just can't wait for anything? Does your child get distracted by every shiny and exciting thing in their path and not wait for that one good thing they really need or want? If so, you might enjoy this cute children's book written by Christy Ziglar, daughter of the well-known motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar. Can't-Wait Willow! is part of the Shine Bright Kids illustrated children's books series created to help children learn to make better choices. The book is about an excited 7 year old girl that goes to Over-the-Top Circus. While at the circus Willow finds all kinds of things she just can't say "no" to because they sound so good. Unfortunately that means when it is time to leave the circus she is out of money and cannot get the pink cotton candy she really wants. Before leaving Willow gets some good advice and a chance to try again.
The book contains adorable illustrations of Willow and her circus trip. (See link below for coloring pages of the circus trip.) I enjoyed this book and the lesson it teaches. It is easy to understand, even for younger children. This is a great "teachable moment" story to read before attending any events such as fairs, circuses, and even shopping trips. This book would also be a thoughtful gift for a child easily swayed by everything around them.
Christy's website also contains some resources related to the book including coloring pages and a printable poster that tells your children "Ways to Shine Bright". There is even a reward chart to use with your child.
