This first novel from Heather is definitely a page-turner. This book was hard to put down before finishing. Heather really captures your attention with this suspense novel about a hurting mom. This mom, once a successful attorney, makes it her mission to find and punish the man who killed her daughter. Evelyn begins to have supernatural nudges and believes she can smell the "stench of evil" from the pedophiles and abusers of her town. They soon find out that they can't keep their activities secret if she's anywhere close. I'm not going to tell you whether she find him, (no spoilers here) but I think you'll like how things turn out by the end. Definitely a must read book if you're looking for a new author to keep you wondering all the way to the last page.
This story presents tough topics such as evil, justice, retribution, and the death of a child at the hands of a killer. The feelings and emotions of the grieving parents are realistic. The story, told without gory and gruesome details, is very effective at making you think about the love parents feel and the agony they experience. I found myself wondering what I would do in a similar situation, seek revenge or "give it to God". I look forward to reading more books by Heather.
