I've been reading another great book from Kregel Publishing. Let me tell you a bit about it.
The Advent of Murder takes place during the Christmas Advent season. Advent is always a busy time, but in this story it is even busier for the main character, Faith Morgan, the new vicar of St. James and ex-cop from Little Worthy.
The story begins with Faith headed to visit her potential "Joseph" for the church nativity pageant. Upon arriving at the farm of this man, Faith finds herself at a scene where a body has been found in the local river. She soon finds out that the dead young man, Lucas Bagshaw, had been in the church choir. The story takes plenty of twists and turns from there.
The main characters are well-developed and include Faith, Ben Shorter, the police inspector and Faith's former boyfriend, Oliver Markham, a parishioner and suspect, Adam Bagshaw, the uncle of the dead boy, Pat, the churchwarden, V and Dot, friends of Lucas, and a few others. The storyline is easy to follow and the ending made sense even though you may not see it coming. This was a pleasant and quick read that also involved burglary, drugs, romance, and secrets. I enjoyed the book and will probably be following this author to read more Faith stories.
